Fecal transplants have been used for decades to treat diseases in China. The Chinese make a “yellow soup” of freshly fermented stools and water. Our stools are full of bacteria from our intestinal flora, or microbiome. These bacteria not only help us digest our food, but also have an impact on our overall health. This can help you combat a number of different illnesses, but there are some undesirable side effects too: you could potentially take on your donor’s propensity towards anxiety or overweight.
