Did you know you have bacterial DNA in your genes?

Biological evolution is the transfer of genes from parents to offspring. You inherit your genes from your parents. This is done through vertical gene transfer from mother to daughter cell, and that determines your DNA. But the University of Cambridge has found that as many as 145 of your genes have a bacterial origin. These bacterial genes have jumped, as it were, into the human DNA in the course of our evolution. This process is done through horizontal gene transfer. We are more bacterial than we think.
